Denver's #1 Team Just Left Their Old Brokerage. Here's What Made Them Move.
The Impact Group was the top-ranked team in the Denver Metro Association of Realtors two years running when it moved to eXp Realty in September 2025. This was not a team in trouble.
Everything below comes from eXp Realty's own announcement of the move. The quotes are from that release, not from interviews, and the production figures are the ones eXp published.
What eXp reported
- $305 million in 2024 sales volume
- 429 transactions closed
- 31 agents and 4 support staff
- #1 team in the Denver Metro Association of Realtors, two consecutive years
Curiosity, not crisis
"It wasn't about leaving something broken. It was about being curious." — Jon Cole, founder of The Impact Group, quoted in eXp Realty's announcement of the move.
eXp also reported that the team spent roughly 18 months weighing options before deciding. That detail is more useful than the volume figure. A team producing at that level has no forced reason to move, which means the evaluation was about the ceiling, not the floor.
The reason they gave
"That level of collaboration is game-changing. It gives our team access to strategies, marketing ideas, and systems that have been proven to work in competitive environments nationwide." — Tabitha Bartel, co-owner, in the same announcement.
Take that for what it is: a line in a recruitment release. What sits underneath it is structural and checkable. eXp's team framework lets an established group keep its brand, its leadership and its systems while changing the brokerage relationship underneath. We cover how those structures are defined in our guide to eXp team structures.
Reading this from New England
Denver is not our market, and there is no local angle here worth manufacturing. The transferable part is the arithmetic. At eXp the split is 80/20 to the agent against a $16,000 annual commission cap. On Bean Group's Mega Team, the eXp cap is $4,000. The Bean Group team split is a separate line item and it is not capped — it varies by level on our partnership ladder. Any honest comparison models both lines, not just the cap.
