Claremont is a city on the Sugar River near its meeting with the Connecticut. Newport lies upriver to the east.

Geography
The Connecticut River forms the western edge at Claremont and Charlestown, facing Vermont. The Sugar River runs west from Lake Sunapee through Newport to Claremont, and the Cold River drains Acworth and Langdon to the south.

The Connecticut River corridor runs the length of the market's western edge, and Mount Sunapee stands beyond its eastern boundary above Goshen.
Transportation and access
Route 12 and Route 11 run through Claremont and Charlestown along the river corridor, Route 103 links Claremont and Newport east toward Lake Sunapee and I-89, and Route 10 crosses the southern towns. A bridge at Claremont crosses to Ascutney, Vermont and I-91.
