Understanding the area
Concord is New Hampshire's capital, set on the Merrimack River with the State House on Main Street. Penacook is at the northern end of the city.
The market reaches south to Bow, Pembroke and Allenstown, north to Boscawen, Canterbury, Salisbury and Webster, east to Loudon, Chichester, Epsom, Pittsfield, Northwood and Nottingham, and west to Hopkinton and Henniker.
The Merrimack River runs south through Concord, Bow and Pembroke. The Contoocook River joins it at Penacook after passing Henniker and Hopkinton, and the Suncook River reaches it at Allenstown. East of Concord the land rises along Route 4 toward Northwood and Nottingham.
Bear Brook State Park lies in Allenstown, and Pawtuckaway State Park is in Nottingham at the eastern edge of the market. Northwood Lake and Jenness Pond sit along the Route 4 corridor.
Interstate 93 runs north to south through Concord and Bow, and Interstate 89 begins in Concord and heads northwest toward Lebanon. Route 4 and Route 202 run east toward Epsom and Northwood, and Route 106 runs north through Loudon.
